DIY mānuka honey facemask

Honey is a natural humectant (retains moisture) and can be used as an ingredient for face masks. 

Using mānuka honey in a homemade face mask can be a great way to harness its potential benefits for the skin including its moisturizing properties.

Here's a simple and effective mānuka honey face mask recipe:

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon of mānuka honey (preferably with a high UMF™ rating, e.g. minimum UMF™13+, ideally UMF™16+ or above.

½ teaspoon of plain yoghurt (optional, for added hydration and exfoliation)

Instructions:

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt and makeup and wash your hands.

In a small bowl, combine the Mānuka honey and plain yoghurt (if using). Mix well until you have a smooth and uniform paste.

How to apply the Facemask:

Ensure your face is clean and slightly damp. You can apply the mask to your entire face or focus on specific dry areas. 

Using clean fingers or a brush, apply a thin and even layer of the Mānuka honey mask to your face, avoiding the eye area.

Leave the mask on for about 15 minutes to allow the honey's properties to work on your skin. During this time, the honey will nourish and moisturize your skin

Gently wipe off the mask with a warm flannel. Be patient, as honey can be slightly sticky.

Follow up with your regular skincare routine, such as using a gentle cleanser then applying a moisturizer or serum.

Note:

If you have sensitive skin, consider doing a patch test behind the ear before applying the mask, to check for any adverse effects.

Mānuka honey face masks can be used once or twice a week, depending on your skin's needs. Adjust the frequency based on how your skin responds to the treatment.

Always choose high-quality, genuine Mānuka honey for skincare purposes. Authentic Manuka honey will have a Unique Mānuka Factor (UMF™) rating, which indicates its potency and quality.

It is best to make the face mask fresh and use it immediately, we do not recommend making the mask and storing it.
